Religion and Queer Issues
Hi,
Can we just take a minute to acknowledge the e board? I mean look at these notes!
~ASM
BIG met with Trisk in the ICC (yup, acronyms and abbreviations...).
For each question, a lively discussion followed. While it focused mostly on Abrahamic religions, reflecting the majority of experiences, the conversation was certainly not closed off to other religions, faith traditions and beliefs. There was a fair amount of discussion on Buddhism and Paganism as well.
It started with a Definition of Queer and then moved onto the questions.
Question 1: If you are part of an organized religion, are you aware of its stance on queer issues?
Question 2: What are ways that faiths can be more welcoming or what are they already doing?
Ended talking about putting oranges on the seder plate (Way that women responded to the phrase, “A women has no more place on the bimah than an orange on a seder plate”(paraphrase))
